Last weekend Mr. Elton Dinga won the 1st prize in the most important one loft race of America, the World Ace Challenge! The loft is located near Texas.  The price money was $ 30,000.

The concept of the World Ace Challenge is quite different from the usual one loft race.  There are six important races. The pigeon with the highest average speed on these six races wins the World Ace Challenge. The distances of the races are 240km / 320km / 480km / 320km / 480km / 640km. On this way only the best and most solid pigeon is able to win this extremely difficult race.

The pigeon 11-AU-24401 was the big winner of the World Ace Challenge. This bird is a grandchild and an inbreeding product to our magnificent breeder “Barco”(B01-6387350). It is really amazing how his children and grandchildren perform all over the world and in all weather circumstances.

Another grandchild to “Barco” has won the 1° prize in the Mercedes Classic One Loft Race (USA). It was a 480km race.

A direct child to “Barco” has won the 2° prize in the Nanjing One Loft Race (China).

A grandchild of “Barco” was one of the big sensations in the Sun City Million Dollar Pigeon Race (South Africa) two years ago. This bird (“Worldcup”) won on the preliminary races:

13° against 3.188 p.

These are just a few examples to show how easily the “Barco” offspring is able to adapt to different circumstances.

In this article we will present you some very good references with Vercammen pigeons in Holland.

The Dutchmen Piet van de Woestijne and Henk Verwoert paid us a visit this week. They had super results with their Vercammen youngsters and were very happy to share it with us.

One of the top youngsters at the van de Woestijne loft is the beautiful blue cock NL11-1505189. He is a 100% Vercammen pigeon! His mother is a direct daughter to our super cock “Mambo”(B08-6144041) x an inbreeding hen to “Barco”(B01-6387350). His father is a son to “Thunderbolt”(B08-6144141). This bird has got the top Vercammen birds in its pedigree.

Also Mr. Verwoert has got different promising Vercammen youngsters. One of them is NL11-1505207. This youngster won a.o. 5° St. Job (102km) against 3,170 birds. The father of this bird is a son to “Thunderbolt”(B08-6144141).  Mr. Verwoert and Mr. van de Woestijne have two children of “Thunderbolt” and both of them have already produced top youngsters! The mother of the bird is a child to “Rocco”(B08-6144092) x “Diva”(B05-6234001).

Now it is time for a small intermezzo. The above mentioned breeders “Mambo” and “Diva” are from the same couple. Their most famous brother is probably our national Ace "Porto”(B03-6287006). “Diva” is grandmother to the top bird B11-6282434 who is currently completely dominating the Thailand One Loft Race! This is just an example just to show what a great family of birds this is.

Another youngster won at the loft of Verwoert 2° St. Job against 3,170 birds. It was a 50% Vercammen pigeon!

These are just a few examples - mentioning them all would lead us too far - but they already show why Mr. van de Woestijne and Mr. Verwoert are so happy about the Vercammen input at their lofts. We wish them good luck coming racing season!


Another top reference in Holland is coming from the Dutch combination Smeets-Peeters (Reuver). Their yearling “Armani”(NL10-1918437) was one of the very best, especially in difficult weather cirumstances!

One of the most popular one loft races in the world is without any doubt the Thailand One Loft Race. People all over the world are participating to this race. In the beginning there were almost 1,800 pigeons entered.

The loft has got an unique location

On the first Hotspot Race we won the 5° and 29° prize! There were 848 birds entered and they were released in Pitchit (300km). We had the first two Belgian birds!

The second Hotspot Race took place on the 17th November. The place of release was Phitsanulok (350km). We won the 13° and 18° prize against 803 birds, these pigeons were again the first two Belgian birds! The first 14 birds arrived together. They were clocked within 9 seconds. With a bit more luck our first bird could have finished even closer!

One loft races are becoming each year more and more important in the global pigeon sport. It is a perfect occasion to test your birds in all possible weather circumstances and this all over the world.

In the USA one loft races are really popular. One of the most important races over there is the Mercedes Classic Race. The final race is 480 km (300-mile) long and took place on the 6th November 2011. Mr. Kolvenbag won the first prize on this race. This winning bird is a 50% Vercammen pigeon! The same bird ended up as 2nd Ace-pigeon too. It was bred by Mr. Dinga.

 If you take a closer look to the pedigree of the bird, you will see that the father has got all the traditional Vercammen pigeons in its pedigree. Our basic pigeons “Panter”(B86-6056506) and “Yasmine”(B90-6244831) can be found back multiple times.

Currently the Thailand Grand Pigeon Race is approaching its final phase. Yesterday the first Hotspot race was flown. The birds were released in Pitchit (300km). The checkered cock “Beckham”(B01-6387174) can be called for sure one of our crown jewels. He is – just like “Barco”(B01-6387350) and “Deco”(B01-6387351) – part of the ‘magic 2001 generation’ as the famous Belgian author ‘het Bamiske’ once described them.

“Beckham” was a brilliant racer, an anecdote now to prove how skilled he was as a racer. It was July 2003. The weather circumstances were really difficult. The temperature rose to 35°C and there was a very strong wind on the head. The pigeons were released in Argenton (555km). “Beckham” managed to be the fastest bird of the whole release and flew minutes ahead of the second bird. He won 1° Provincial Argenton (555km) 2,166 pigeons and 1° fast. Argenton (555km) 3,973 p. .

After a successful racing career he moved to the breeding loft. It became a direct hit, he became immediately father and grandfather to a lot of top birds. A remarkable thing is that apparently the favorite race of these birds is Argenton (555km). It is really striking how many times these birds have won top results on this race.

Everybody will acknowledge that "Barco"(B01-6387350) is without any doubt one of Belgium's best breeders of the new millenium.

"Barco" was born in the fall of 2001. He immediately attracted our attention. Not only because of his dark colour but also with his appearance. Even with an age of ten years, he is still a powerful bird.

"Barco" needs no further introduction

He did not breed in the year 2002. He was coupled for the first time in January 2003. His first youngster was superstar "Bosko"(B03-6287052). The nest-sister of "Bosko" became mother to "Beauty"(B05-6234009)! It was the beginning of a new era. Our basic pigeon "Panter"(B86-6056506) had a successor, "Barco"!

We are back after a break of almost a month!

The past weeks a small group of youngsters has been trained on the short distance races. They are flying every week Quievrain (98km). These young birds have not been darkened so they are still or have almost finished moulting. Past weekend they got for the first time an electronic ring attached so they could be entered ‘for real’.  This time of the year people are betting quite a lot of money on the short distance races.

Our first nominated bird immediately won the big money. It was the young cock B11-6282316. We are expecting great things from him next year.  This very beautiful bird is again a child of our amazing breeding couple “Elektro”(B08-6174630) x “Gloria”(B06-6270117). On the pictures you will see that he is still moulting.

Yesterday the final race of the season, Gueret (590km) took place.

We started with the 5° Provincial Gueret 2,266 birds and the 49° National against 14,262 birds. We have 41 prizes of 69 entered birds.

Our first bird was B11-6282212. She is a daughter to the super breeding hen "Siri"(B06-6411619) and a granddaughter to “Barco”(B01-6387350).

I was very busy last two weeks, therefore now just a short overview of the past two races.

From La Souterraine (593km) we started with the 65° National z. against 6,005 youngsters. It was the talented B11-6282189. On the previous national race, Argenton (555km), she won 4° against 663 pigeons! She is a granddaughter to “Barco”(B01-6387350).

Our second youngster was B10-6282030. This beautiful checkered hen won from the first national race, Bourges (479km), 5° against 637 pigeons. She is a full sister to “Orfee”(B10-6052265), 1° Argenton (555km) 695 p. / 31° National Argenton (555km) 22,442 p. . Her father, "Winothai"(B07-6221588), is a son to “Beckham”(B01-6387174). Her mother is a full sister to “Porto”(B03-6287006).

Our first old bird was B10-6052172. She wins 29° National La Souterraine (593km) against 3,562 old birds. This hen is closely related to “Barco”(B01-6387350) and “Porto”(B03-6287006).

Our second old bird was B10-6052111. She wins 62° National La Souterraine (593km) against 3,562 old birds. She is a granddaughter to “Beckham”(B01-6387174) and “Iron Lady”(B97-6145223).

Our third old bird was our top hen “La Bomba”(B10-6052045). She wins a national top 100 position too.  “La Bomba” has got fantastic records.

Superstar "La Bomba"

Past weekend there was only a short distance race from Noyon (208km). We entered only a few birds, the other ones stayed at home.

Our first bird was B11-6282246. This beautiful checkered hen won 14° against 643 birds. We have high expectations for this pigeons. She only flew two official races but we think she can be one of the best next year. She is a daughter to our new top breeder “Mambo”(B08-6144041). Her mother is our top hen “Beauty”(B05-6234009).

With the old birds we started with the 1° prize. It was the black hen B10-6052144 who did it.

Last race of the season: Gueret(590km)! I will be on a holiday for three weeks. So I do not know yet if there will be a Gueret report.

There was one big race this weekend, the semi-national Blois (462km) race. No less than 6,165 birds were released on this race.

The results were excellent.

We entered only two old birds. They won 1° + 25° Semi-national Blois (462km) against 1,165 pigeons!

With the youngsters we start with the 10° and 11° against 5,000 birds. We have no less than 35 prizes from 49 entered birds! In Union Antwerpen we started with the 2° and 3° against 447 youngsters!

The pigeon that won the 1° Semi-national is the beautiful hen “Latina”(B10-6052292). She is a summer youngster 2010. She is a full sister to the fantastic birds “Paulo”(B09-6248171), “Shadow”(B10-6052011), “Shakira”(B10-6052293),… “Latina” is a granddaughter to “Beauty”(B05-6234009) and “Porto”(B03-6287006). We’ll give you after the season an overview of the results of her brothers and sisters. It is really amazing….

"Latina" is again a super sibling of "Paulo"

Our second old bird was B10-6052306. She is a summer youngster 2010, just like “Latina”. She is also a granddaughter to “Porto”(B03-6287006). Her siblings are doing it great too. The most famous one is probably “Goldwing”(B09-6248271).

Our first youngster was B11-6282070. She is a full sister to B10-6052306! Their parents are still young, but already have produced different top birds.

Our second youngster was B11-6282012. This is a very beautiful black hen. She is very silky with strong muscles, a very nice bird! She is a direct daughter to “Miss Universe”(B07-6221587). “Miss Universe” is on her turn a daughter to “Beckham”(B01-6387174).

Today the semi-national race from Blois (462km) took place. This morning 6,165 birds (old birds and youngsters) were released. We had excellent results.

We have won the 1° semi-national Blois (462km) against 1,165 pigeons! It was the beautiful hen "Latina"(B10-6052292) who did the job. She is a full sister to the amazing birds "Paulo"(B09-6248171), "Shadow"(B10-6052011),...

We had only 2 old birds in the race and they win 1° + 19° semi-national against 1,165 pigeons (tel. announc.)!

With the youngsters we start with the 10° and 13° semi-national against 5,000 pigeons (tel. announc.) and we'll have probably 35 prizes from 49 entered birds.

There was also another race, Noyon (208km). They were released on Monday because of the bad weather. They should have done the same for the national Argenton race! We won the 1° and 3° prize against 540 youngsters! The bird that won the first prize, was our first nominated. The bird that won the 3° prize, was our third nominated!

These are really special results. Especially when you consider that the Marne and Dourdan races have been difficult and strange ones.

The father of this blue white flight hen, “Hercules”(B10-6052441) is a full brother to superstar “Aladdin”(B09-6248081), 1° fast. National Bourges (479km) 64,621 pigeons. “Hercules” was born in May 2010. We coupled him for the first time in January 2011 and now we already have three top youngsters from him! “Hercules” has got the same looks as his brother “Aladdin”(apart from the eye). He is clearly a very talented breeder and has got everything to become one of the future top ace breeders!

This year she performed very well on the semi-long distance races. We are considering transferring her to the breeding loft. She has bred only two youngsters for the races and they have shown - in a very short timeframe – that they are very talented! Next week the races Blois (462km) and Dourdan (366km) will be flown.

Past weekend the national race from Argenton (555km) took place. There were 28,019 birds in the race. To almost everybody’s surprise, the pigeons were released on Saturday. Even the national chairman could not understand this decision. For Saturday a lot of rain was predicted, and so it was. That is why you needed to be a bit lucky to win the national top prizes. It depended of the region where you live. Was there a lot of rain before the pigeons would arrive or not? Too bad it rained like hell in our region. It started 30-40 minutes before the pigeons would arrive. That is why we did not have any chance to win national top positions.

The fairest result is the one in your club. These pigeons have to fly in the same weather circumstances. Our results were very excellent in our very strong club St. Job. The results were the following.

The blue cock B11-6282032 is one of our best young birds. He has flown many times in the top this year and this in different cirumstances: hard, easy, rainy,… He is once again a grandchild to “Barco”(B01-6387350).

The first national race for youngsters took place past weekend. There were 54,010 pigeons released in Bourges (479km): 31,641 youngsters, 12,608 yearlings and 9,761 old birds. We will have probably 8 pigeons in the top 150 national. It was a difficult race. In Belgium the weather was not good, so especially for the lofts with the furthest distance it was a hard race.

Next week the national Bourges (479km) race will take place. We are hoping for a fair race!

The weather this weekend was again not good. The pigeons that flew on Saturday had to fly in the rain. As a result the races were difficult. Hopefully the weather will finally change a bit the coming weeks.

An important race this weekend was Blois (462km). For the youngsters it was an important race with regard to the national race of Bourges next week. We entered 39 youngsters.

The interprovincial result was the following:

Only the top 50 has been published. Probably we will have won 29 prizes of 39 entered birds.

We entered our yearlings on Dourdan (366km) as a final race before the Bourges race of next week. Against 489 yearlings they won 9, 12, 22,… They won 16 prizes from 30 entered birds. Our first bird was B10-6052231. He is a direct son to “Mambo”(B08-6144041). Our second pigeon was the top yearling “Bomek”(B10-6052046).

The weather of the last two weeks has been really terrible. The pigeon flew more than 110 km/h. With all due respect for the winners of this kind of the races, but they are often a lottery. We live in the fore fly, so with such a wind almost all our pigeons come from the opposite direction. There was not only the terrible wind, but also a lot of rain. That is why we did not take any risks. Our best old birds stayed at home. We raced our complete young bird team neither, only a few of them.

We entered 4 youngsters and 2 yearlings on Orleans (408km). We have 3 prizes from 4 entered youngsters.  Our very promising yearling B10-6052303 was very early. Last year she flew only some short distance races. This black hen was much earlier home than expected. We thought she was a young bird that was missing from the day before. She did not enter the loft and lost at least five minutes. If we would have been ready, she would have probably won the 5° provincial, now it was 23°. B10-605203 is really talented. So far this season she won 6 prizes on 6 races with top positions. We are curious how she will perform on the coming races. Her father is “Goldwing”(B09-6248271). Her mother is a direct daughter to our legendary hen “Petra”(B95-6300210).

We entered also some yearlings on Limoges (640km). As already said, our best yearlings stayed home. On the national level the early birds were located in the western part of Belgium.

The weather circumstances of past weekend were excellent for racing pigeons. There was a strong wind on the head and the temperature rose to +/- 23°C. This is the type of weather on which the ‘strong’ birds can distinguish themselves from the rest.

There were two races: Dourdan (366km) for the youngsters and Argenton (555km) for the yearlings. We did not enter any old birds. They will fly Brive (706km) next week.

After the very difficult race of last week, it was uncertain how our youngsters would react. Our pigeons flew (once again) fantastically. Below you can read their result from Dourdan (366km).

We did not race the old birds this weekend. The young birds were entered on Dourdan (366km). The weather on Saturday was not good, that is why they were released on Sunday. The weather circumstances were quite different than the ones from the weeks before. In the morning there was some haze. The temperature rose to 30°C. For the young birds it was the first time they had to stay two nights in the basket. This fact, in combination with the weather circumstances, had a very difficult race as a result. It took almost 6 hours before 1/3 of the pigeons were back home! A day later, a lot of youngsters are still missing. We are lucky to have the most of our birds back. All good nominated birds are back home.

When the race is difficult, our pigeons often distinguish themselves from the rest. And now they did it again very well.

His father is a summer youngster from 2010. His first youngsters ever bred, B11-6282007 and B11-6282008, have both already won an early prize!

We started with the 13° and 27° provincial against 741 birds. We had 4 prizes from 7 entered birds.

“Mensa” is a half-brother to “Favoriet”(B05-6234169), 9th National Ace-pigeon KBDB long distance. “Favoriet” won a.o. 1° Provincial Brive (707km) 1,253 p.!

The first middle distance race for the young birds took place this weekend. The birds were released in Melun (310km). The result was fantastic.

We won in Union Antwerpen ZAV the following result.

Normally we would have won for sure the 4 first prizes. It is pity that a hawk flew just above our loft when they arrived. Two pigeons landed after +/- 50 seconds. The other two kept flying more than two minutes!

The pigeons that won the first two prizes were B11-6282059 and B11-6282054. B11-6282059 is once again a child of the young and very successful breeding couple “Amaretto”(B07-6221019) x “Dina”(B08-6144028). They are already parents to a lot of good birds. The most famous one is without any doubt “Jonge Panter”(B09-6248211), 2° fast. National Bourges (479km) against 64,621 pigeons. B11-6282059 is the spitting image of her mother “Dina”. Below you will see a picture of B11-6282059 and one of “Dina” when she was a youngster. There is almost no difference! This black hen is also a grandchild to the world famous “Barco”(B01-6387350).

And out of her ‘first egg’ comes already a first prize winner against +2,000 birds! She is bred off “Winothai”(B07-6221588), a son to “Beckham”(B01-6387174). “Winothai” is the nest-brother to the fantastic breeding hen “Miss Universe”(B07-6221587). So he is a son to “Beckham”(B01-6387174) and a grandson to “Barco”(B01-6387350). “Little Panter” is already father to “Lena”(B09-6248156). This hen won a.o. 2° Provincial Chateauroux (526km) against 3,147 pigeons.

Our first prize winner from Chateauroux (526km) last week, "Vitara"(B10-6052150), is a daughter to “Mambo” too! “Vitara” won 1° fast. Chateauroux (526km) 943 pigeons / 4° Provincial Chateauroux (526km) 3,042 pigeons / 41° National Chateauroux (526km) 24,769 pigeons. Her mother is the top breeding hen “Beauty”(B05-6234009). “Beauty” won a.o. 2° fast. National Argenton (555km) 30,045 pigeons. She is a great breeding hen too. She is for instance grandmother to “Viola”(B07-6221074). The very promising yearling “Vitara” (see above) is a child from “Viola”. Therefore we decided to stop racing “Viola”. She will be introduced on the breeding loft at the end of this month.

Our old birds did not participate to the races this week. We raced however a few yearling hens that are staying on the young birds loft. We started with the 5° Melun (310km) against 1,221 yearlings (first nominated)! It was the black hen B10-6052303. Last year she flew only some short distance race (98km)!

Next week there are two national races: Cahors and La Chatre.

It was a 'killing' weekend.The temperature rose above 30°C and there was a very strong wind on the head. Only a few birds flew more than 1,100 mpm. We had excellent results!

I will publish some more information when I have some more time (exams).

We entered only yearlings on Chateauroux (526km). No old birds were entered.

We had no less than 17 birds in the first 10%!

We entered also 11 old birds on the national race Limoges (640km). We started with the 1° prize in Union Antwerpen against 258 p.! This birds flew 23 (!) minutes ahead. On the provincial level it was the 4° against 1,639 pigeons. We have 7 prizes from 11 entered birds. None of all the 19,369 released birds flew above 1,095 mpm.

The first prize winner from Chateauroux was "Vitara"(B10-6052150). She is a daughter from two top birds. The father is "Mambo"(B08-6144041). The mother is the super hen "Viola"(B07-6221074). After this victory, "Viola" has been put on the breeding loft. We want to have more super strong children from her. "Viola" has been only raced three times as a baby.

First of all, sorry for the absence of a news flash last week. My exams are almost there, so I have limited free time for the moment. Last week was a preparation weekend for the national Bourges race. From Dourdan (366km) we started with the 5° and 12° against 2,216 birds. The 5° prize was our first nominated bird, “Shadow”(B10-6052011). He grabbed all the money. He is a full brother to “Paulo”(B09-6248171).

This weekend the first national race of the year took place! More than 45,000 birds were released in Bourges (479km). It became a very fast race. Our birds did it excellent!

The national top 100 (final result) has already been published.

National against 20,646 yearlings: 18, 39, 75, 98,… We will have probably 7 pigeons in the top 120!

In the famous Union Antwerpen we started with 1° and 4° against 725 pigeons.

On the provincial level we have 43 prizes from 69 entered birds. On the national level it will be even more (probably 50). Who did better?

The first semi-long distance race of the year was Blois (462km). The race was much harder than last week. The first birds made hardly 1,250 mpm. Our first bird flew 6 hours and 14 minutes! The wind was coming from the Northwest.

The result was really great. The interprovincial result was the following:

We do not need to present these birds. “Bambina” is a granddaughter to "Barco”(B01-6387350). The father of “La Bomba” is a full brother to “Porto”(B03-6287006). Her mother “Sherryl”(B03-6287192) is a super hen!

Two weeks ago the weather was really difficult. The temperature was high and the wind was on the head. That day two Dutch top references were achieved.

Mr. Martin De Poorter won 1° Mantes la Jolie against 8,151 pigeons.  It was the dark cock “Black Label”(NL09-3909427) who did the job. His mother is a 100% Vercammen pigeon! His father is a Koopman pigeon.

His mother is a 100% Vercammen pigeon too!  She is from the “Iron Lady”(B97-6145223) and “Panter”(B86-6056506) lines.

Last weekend the first middle distance race of the year took place. The race was Melun (310km).  There was a very strong tailwind (from the South). The most people know these type of races are strange ones.  There are always pigeons that fly minutes ahead, mostly on the longest distance.

We are happy about the result, especially in these weather conditions.

In the federation “Regio Mechelen” we have won the following result.

At our loft 5 birds arrived at the same time. They did not enter the loft quickly, so they lost quite some time.

Our racing team was entered for the last time on Noyon (208km). Next week the middle distance races will take off. The weather was similar to that of the last couple of weeks: quite warm and strong headwinds. The result was really excellent! Too bad that our first birds did not enter the loft properly, so we lost twice the first prize in the two federations!

Our first bird was B10-6052114. This beautiful dark cock is one of our big favorites. He is a grandson to “Luna”(B04-6058148). He came only 10 seconds short for the first prize and you have to know he was home much earlier!

Our second cock was B10-6052147. So far, he is our most consistent bird. Also his nest-sister was early. Their parents were coupled for the first time last year. They bred two youngsters for the races. They were immediately two good ones! No wonder that we have put the parents immediately on the breeding loft.

Also early was B10-6052176. This checkered cock was last year one of our best youngsters. He won for instance three weeks in a row a top 10 position in Union Antwerpen ZAV against a loft of birds! He is a half-brother (same father) to our super hen “Viola”(B07-6221074)!

Next week the first middle distance race, Melun (310km), will take place.

Past weekend our pigeons flew their second Noyon race (208km). The month of April is a fantastic one, every week nice weather and some headwinds. The temperature even rose to 28°C past Sunday!

Our birds were again entered in two different federations.

The hens were entered in another federation. However the prize percentage was high, they did not fly that early. But they have to be just ‘top’ at the end of May.

Next week the birds will be again entered for Noyon.

Yesterday the first race of the season took place. The birds were released in Quievrain (98km). Of course this kind of races is not important for us. It is however important to see how they arrive from the race.  If the arrival of the birds is fluent, we can be confident for the coming weeks and months. And so it was.

In the federation Bo-Ho-Ko-Ra we won (the hens were entered in this fed):
Against 431 yearlings: 3, 9, 11, 18, 20, 24, 26, 27, 40,…  

In the federation Pallieterverbond we won (the cocks were entered in this fed):
Against 489 birds: 9, 11, 17, 23, 32, 35, 46,…

If the first bird would have not been flying that many circles around the loft, we would have already won the 1° prize. Now it was the 3° prize against 431 pigeons. It was the checkered hen “Minerva”(B10-6052247). Last year she won a.o. 2° Dourdan (366km) against 2,545 pigeons, only beaten by a loftmate! “Minerva” is a very promising child from our world class breeders “Beckham”(B01-6387174) and “Siri”(B06-6411619).

Superstar "Bambina"

Our first nominated birds were all in the head of the race. Our superstar from last year, “Bambina”(B10-6052002), won the 11° against 431 birds. We hope she will equal this season her results of last year. “Blackberry”(B10-6052091) was in front too. He won the 11° prize against 489 birds (basketted in other federation).  “Blackberry” is a full brother to “Jonge Panter”(B09-6248211), 2° fast. National Bourges against 64,621 pigeons. Also “Maxima”(B08-6144100) flew well. By the way, “Maxima” is a full sister to “Minerva”. These three birds were all three first nominated!

We are happy about these results. This is just a preparation race for us. For the many short distance fanciers however this was already an important race!

“Viola” is a very nice black hen. She is middle sized and a very ‘strong’ bird in the hand.

Last year we have bred one child from her for the races. It was immediately a very promising one!

The final pigeon in this presentation is the young hen “Jessica”(B10-6052155), a very talented bird!

The last long distance race of the year 2010 was a very tough one.  The pigeons were released in Gueret (588km). The weather was fantastic, a bright sky and headwinds. The type of weather on which the good birds excel.  The first birds flew almost eight and a half hours!

Our first bird on this race was the blue hen “Jessica”. On this race she won:

13° National Gueret (588km) 13,885 p.

This was an excellent performance under hard circumstances. Certainly when you take into consideration that other fanciers are living 100km shorter.

The father of “Jessica” is the nest-brother to “Thunderbolt”(B08-6144141). The “Thunderbolt” family is hard to beat on the hard long distance races! The mother of “Jessica” is “Iris”(B08-6144208). This hen flew herself in the national top 100 from La Souterraine (593km). She is a granddaughter to our top breeder “Mitu”(B02-6058048).

“Orfee”(B10-6052265) is one of our ‘pearls’ for coming racing season. Last year she was only raced twice. After her second race, we stopped her immediately.

She flew one middle distance race before she was entered for the national race from Argenton (555km). It was a very tough race. The birds were basketted on Thursday and released on Monday. It was especially heavy for inexperienced birds, like “Orfee” was at that time. However, “Orfee” did a marvellous job. She won:

To end, we will tell you some more about the final race in Sun City (South Africa). It became a catastrophic race. On the end race, the pigeons had to deal with thunderstorms and heavy rain. Some parts of the country even received ‘flood warnings’. Only a handful of pigeons returned on the first day of release. Hopefully it will be better next year.

Coming Saturday the final race in the Sun City Million Dollar Pigeon Race will be flown. Yesterday the last preliminary race took place. Our pigeon “Heavens Devil”(B10-6052367) was again in the head of the race. She won the 20° prize against 2,607 pigeons. Four days earlier she won 3° against 2,627 pigeons.

The expectations are high for this weekend. However, you have to take the notice that anything can happen. The expected weather circumstances for instance are not good.

In the meanwhile, the LCB championships have been published. We became 1st National Champion LCB young birds (100-600km).

There was also a raking of the best youngsters. We had no less than 6 youngsters in the top 15. Amongst those birds were the super stars “Bambina”(B10-6052002) and “La Bomba”(B10-6052045).

The 15th Sun City Million Dollar Pigeon Race in South Africa is coming to its climax. Next week the final race will take place.

We have an excellent bird in the race, namely “Heavens Devil”(B10-6052367). This hen is a daughter to the top birds “Mitu”(B02-6058048) and “Miss Universe”(B07-6221587). “Miss Universe” is a daughter to “Beckham”(B01-6387174).

“Heavens Devil” performs especially on the longer races. At the moment she is the 2nd Belgian Ace-pigeon.

This weekend she won on the ‘final rehearsal’ the 3° prize against 2,627 pigeons. In the beginning there were over 5,000 birds. We hope she will maintain this great condition.

“Miss Universe” is also mother to last year’s sensation in the Million Dollar Race, “Worldcup”(B09-6248340). “Worldcup” won in the 14th Sun City Race a.o.:

"Mitu" is a fantastic bird

In 2009 one of the big stars was the pigeon "Giggs” from Uwe Fritz. “Giggs” is bred from a full brother to “Mitu”(B02-6058048). It was a very hard race (552km).This bird won also the very difficult "Knock-Out" competition. "Giggs" won a total amount of no less than 50,000.00 USD!! The pigeon was the 2nd most expensive bird. In the exclusive auction after the final race, the bird was sold for 10,000.00 USD.
